New Treatment Centre for Thalassaemia Patients
The Thalassaemia Society of NSW has today welcomed Premier Kristina Keneally’s announcement of $31.5 million to build a new Blood Disorder Centre at Prince of Wales Hospital.

Past Event: International Thalassaemia day Taverna Night - May 8th 2009
A sold out event, weeks before the function, was the key to the success of the evening. A great time was had and i'm sure there would have been some sore legs from all the dancing that took place.
Apologies to our supporters that did not get tickets due to the sell out event. Please stay tuned for the next taverna night which we endevour to hold within the next few months.

Past Event: Charity Dinner Dance 2008
The 30th Anniversary ThalNSW Charity Dinner Dance was held on Saturday 30th August 2008 at the Grand Roxy, Brighton-Le-Sands.
During the evening, $20,000 was donated to Dr Jim Vadolas, Group Leader, Cell and Gene Therapy Group, Murdoch Childrens Research Institute for research into Thalassaemia.
Proceeds from the evening will also be used for our patient support services and community awareness program.

Past Event: Christmas Picnic 2008
More than100 patients, family members and friends attended the fun-filled 'Christmas Picnic on the Beach' which was held on Sunday 30th November 2008 at Dolls Point.
Much work behind the scenes is required for an event to be successful.
A big Thank You to our young chefs Nick Aravantinos and John (Martha Gerolemou’s brother) who ensured that the sausages and onions were cooked to perfection, as well as transporting food, drinks, the BBQ and other necessities to and from the venue.

Past Event: Christmas Gift Bags for Transfusion Dependent Patients 2007
Thanks to the generosity of McDonalds and Greater Union Burwood, 190 small Xmas Surprise Bags were distributed to our thalassaemia, sickle cell anaemia, and blackfan diamond patients as they arrived for their treatment at Sydney Children's Hospital, Children's Hospital @ Westmead, Prince of Wales, Royal Prince Alfred, Westmead and Liverpool Hospitals during the Xmas and New Year period.
Thank you once again McDonalds and Greater Union Burwood. A little gesture can mean so much!!!
Past Event: Christmas Picnic 2007
Christmas Picnic for the children, their families & friends (Dolls Point) held on Sunday 18th November 2007
A fun-filled day was enjoyed by over 100 in attendance, where 48 children waited in anticipation for the arrival of Santa Clause while participating in the free activities provided.

Past Event: Information Afternoon 2007
Information Afternoon - Sunday 14th October 2007 was held at Wests Leagues Club, Ashfield directly after the AGM.
Guest speaker: Dr Vasili Berdoukas OAM who included a discussion on the various iron chelators used, as well as where Gene Therapy for thalassaemia is today.

Past Event: Fundraiser Lunch 2007 at the Cyprus Community of NSW
A fundraiser lunch was held on Sunday 29th July at the Cyprus Community of NSW Stanmore, to raise money for urgently required furniture and fittings for the Thalassaemia Treatment Unit at RPA.
Over 170 people attended, enjoying the fabulous food, while giving very generously for this worthwhile cause.
Thank you to the amazing team of Dina Aravantinos, Maria Matsas and Angela Dimitrakas for raising the incredible amount of $6,716.30 on the day. We greatly appreciate everyone who attended and assisted in making this such a successful event.
5 new recliner chairs (with round table holders) have arrived at RPA; 3 of which have been funded through RPAH, and the remaining 2 by the Thalassaemia Society of NSW. A flat screen 104 cm TV has been purchased (also from the proceeds of the Fundraiser) and installed. A Sunbeam cordless electric kettle and Sunbeam Cafe Press have both been generoulsy donated by Sunbeam Corporation Limited.

Past Event: Movie Night June 2007
The Thalassaemia Society of NSW presented the movie Shrek the Third on Wednesday 20th June (at 7.00pm) at Greater Union Burwood Westfield.
All tickets, both adult and child, were only $10. each with a free snack pack given with all children's tickets purchased. Over 260 adults and children attended, with a few lucky individuals winnng our fabulous Door Prizes. It was an evening of fun and laughter, with the added bonus of spreading awareness of Thalassaemia throughout the general community. Thank you to all who attended.
